Chiefs Fire Chan Gailey as offensive coordinator

8/31/2009

Sources confirm the Kansas City Chiefs have fired Chan Gailey as offensive coordinator.  His status with the team will be addressed later today if he is still part of the team in any way after this move.

Most likely as a lack of production from the Offense this preseason, Head Coach Todd Haley made this move to usher in more of his vision for this offense rather than Gailey's, be safe, use what works sheme.  It's is rumored now that Haley himself will take over calling the plays himself for the offense.

Haley as shown in what he accomplished in Arizona, is a risk taker, wide open, down the field attacking mentality (simlar but not as complex as what Kansas City did during the Vermeil era).  Only time will tell if this move pays off as well as what Gailey will do from here.  Our bet is that Haley takes over calling the plays and the Chiefs will retain Gailey to help game plan only if Gailey wishes to accept that roll.
